I had the opportunity to work on a commission for a conference room at a women’s shelter in collaboration with an art services agent. The agent had previously seen one of my works at an exhibit and wanted to commission a piece tailored to their client’s needs. To ensure the artwork complemented the aesthetic environment of the space, they sent fabric, paint swatches, and color boards. These materials, along with photos of the installation site and architectural drawings, were invaluable in guiding my design process. Through emails, personal conversations, and a collaborative exchange of ideas, I created multiple drawings inspired by our discussions and the provided samples. This thoughtful approach allowed us to craft a successful piece that not only enhanced the beauty of the conference room but also created a meaningful sense of place.
