I created this new work for an exhibition at at Cinder Winery in Garden City, Idaho. I wanted to make a large scale piece that implied a field of spring flowers that grow wild in the planes and other farm land areas. I imagined Bachelor Buttons and Bull Thistles in tall grasses.
The work is 34"w x 60"h x 1 1/2"d and is easily installed by using a french cleat for mounting.
My work embraces color, form and texture. It reconsiders the traditional treatment of steel in blacksmithing by utilizing the material as a substrate for bold colors, which hang on the wall in an expected and familiar presentation, like a canvas.
